I have a form which sells memberships using Paypal for payment. It works well but yesterday something happened that, although we have proof of payment through Paypal, there is no record in the database nor did I get an admin mailback of the record. I have checked back a month of entries and no other irregularities.

Can you tell me the order of actions within the system so I might be able to track where the failure happened. submit, call to Paypal, write to database, send admin mailback, send subscriber mailback. I have now added a Google SS update. Where would it fit in? Can you suggest what possible failures there may have been - power failure, connection interruption ??? Could you point me to the code that does the submit where I could look into this myself.

Hi,

1) Can you please check if there is any error in console?
2) Also, please make sure you get the admin email when someone confirms the form. If not, can you please check which mailer are you using? Mailer is located in Global Configuration->Server->Mail settings->Mailer.
Also, try to use "Send Test email".
3) Can you please check that the records are saved in manage records?

Regards,
Tihana

Yes, Tatiana we checked all of that. I did not get an admin email, the record was not saved in the database - therefore nothing in manage records, she did not get a mailback and she thinks , although not certain, that after Paypal she was returned to our screen. As she had no indication there was anything wrong and I had no indication she had submitted a form we could have gone on for some time without any knowledge of the problem. By the time we did find out it was too late to check for any error checking.

I am not aware of a 'Send test email' - do you mean by changing the Paypal to the PP sandbox. I did test by adding a submit button and all worked smoothly. I thought, perhaps the server might have crashed at the moment she submitted but once it was back up the Paypal portion continues but our host says the server has not been down for 100+ days.

I do think it was just an extremely coincidental timing factor with a power blip or something and unlikely to happen again but I'd like to get a better understanding of the order of things so have just asked if you could point me to the code that does all those final steps - mailbacks, submit, call to Paypal etc. I have now added a write to Google spreadsheets in the hope that, should this happen again, at least that would not fail.

Thanks
Lorna

Hi,

hmm...that is weird.
I thought of the "Send test mail" button in the system-> Global configuration-> Server-> Mail settings and that button is at the bottom.
Which Mailer are you using?

P.S: try to test this on a small form (create small form and see if there is records in Managa Records, and do you recive admin mail)

The problem is not with the mailings. I use the php mail , I get numerous mailings from my system every day. I see the test mail button that you speak of - I may have used it 5 years ago when we started but haven't needed to since. The mail works. It is only this once that nothing but the Paypal call worked - by nothing I mean the write to the database on submit nor the mailbacks. I am only asking if you could tell me where to see the order of these calls so I can determine what safeguards I can put in place to ensure a submit is not totally lost.

Thank you
