I have a number of registration type items for sale on my site. Basically, the customer will register for one of our leagues or place an online reservation for a party. To do so, I have a form linked to my item in BC. The customer completes the form and then the item is added to cart. Works great.

If the customer submits the registration/reservation, then decides to back out (doesn't complete the checkout process), I still receive the completed form. Otherwise, they complete the checkout and everything is fine.

I've noticed that I have some missing order numbers...several to be exact. Is this because the form is taking too long to process and the customer is clicking submit multiple times, or am I missing some orders somewhere? I'm not receiving completed forms for these missing orders either, and have no notifications from BC that an order was attempted. I would assume if the customer was clicking add to cart multiple times, I would receive the form at least once, if not more.

When I look at my orders list, it looks like out of the 30 or so orders I've had come through, I'm missing about 15 numbers. What I'm saying is, my list of order IDs is as follows: 88, 91, 93, 100, 101, 102, 104, 105, 110, 111, 112, 114, 115, 118, 119.

I can confirm that early on I had run a few test orders and deleted them. However, since the first of September it looks like I'm missing order IDs 113, 116, & 117.

What might be causing this, or how is an order number used without any order being placed or form submit? I don't want to be missing orders, obviously. Any way I can check to see what's happening here? Thanks!

I took a look at those three tables, and it appears that an order ID was created for those missing orders and they DO appear in the 'orders' and 'orders_items' tables.

They DON"T appear in the 'orders_status' table. They do all have an order status of 0 (zero), which doesn't exist in my 'orders_status' table.

As you see, all the order_ID are there, but those who aren't displayed is because they where not completed (drop-off) by users. BC saves it for the statistics.

The Order Number is the important reference, the user will never see the order_id.

You are not missing orders :)

That's good to hear. I was hoping that I wasn't missing anything. My only other question related to this then is when does BreezingCommerce start to record an order? I believe every item in my online store (so far) has an attached BreezingForm that is completed before the customer clicks 'Add to Cart'. If the customer fills out part of the form and then abandons the order (doesn't click add to cart), I obviously won't receive either the form or the BC order. But how is an order started if nothing is added to the cart?

Or, if the form is multi-page, does an order begin when the customer advances to the second page of the BreezingForm without having added it to the cart?

Hi,

an order is started as soon as somebody clicks on "add-to-cart". These things happen then (technically):

1. If the use is not logged in, he is prepared to become one
2. An order is created
3. If a form is attached to the product, the record is stored in breezingforms
4. Dropped orders are hidden from the orders screen

The reason behind those preparations are

1) An order is an order, even if not completed (then it is dropped)
2) Dropped orders can be used to create statistics
3) The form is sent and recorded for a similar reason to 2), as you could dig even deeper into the stats and actually use the breezingforms data for more statistics

Regards,
Markus
