you can check the "elephant.ttf" if existing.

It is located in /components/com_facileforms/images/captcha/

You can also open the securimage.php in the same folder and try to change

var $use_gd_font = false;

to

var $use_gd_font = true;

Then it will use gdf fonts from the "gdfonts" folder. But this can lead to problems on macintosh machines (which I assume you are not using).

There are btw other fonts in that folder that you can try if you want. Just change to its appropriate filename in the securimage.php (var $gd_font_file)

No luck. As a side note, I'm doing some of these tests on my test server (so I don't muck up the client's website) and I noticed I have GD2. Would that make a difference? If so I don't suppose you can have both GD and GD2?

GD2 is just fine.

What about turning on errors in your php.ini?

It is a little bit hard to guess what's the problem there without any trace.

Decided to try it on the client's site anyway, no luck there either. They're running GD NOT GD2

What is the command I need to add to the php.ini to turn on errors?

error_reporting = E_ALL
display_errors = 1

Reload/Restart apache and check the url to the captcha image, there should appear a php error
