Shooting them an email now, however, when checking the PHP status in Joomla it says ttf is installed and working but I'll have the host double check.

My host sent me two files both error.log however I'm not 100% if these are the php error log or the appache server log (I assume they're different). I'll post back when I hear something. Thanks for the help sorting this all out.

Here's the reply from my host:

I've verified that Opentype is enabled in the GD library, so utilizing captcha with true type fonts should be working fine, though I believe you must have the actual 'TTF' file downloaded to the server and available to the captcha script.

The log files incorporate the apache logs and PHP logs into the same log file

Hi,

I removed your logs for your own security.

However, that didn't seem to include php errors.

GD on its own does NOT include TTF support, it must be compiled into PHP seperately. If it is already compiled into php, then it might need to be activated in the php.ini.

You can check if TTF support is active in your Joomla! backend => Help => System Info => PHP Information

If TTF is not mentioned then it is not active or no installed at all.

sorry, I was talking bull

GD needs to be activated and ttf needs to be compiled into php at installation (usually these configure directives: '--with-ttf' '--with-freetype-dir=/usr/local' '--enable-gd-native-ttf').

GD itself will look like this if deactivated in the php.ini

;extension=gd.so

activated it will look like this

extension=gd.so

For windows server it will be like this

;extension=php_gd2.dll

and activated

extension=php_gd2.dll

If gd has been acticated in the php.ini you might need to reload/restart your webserver.

Well since my host has verified that TTF is enabled and working, is there a font the captcha is using that I need to make available on the server?
