Found it. I guess I was supposed to be smart enough to add the Captcha field before it would work.

Hi everyone,

I am a subscriber and have installed BF 1.8.4 build 849 on a Joomla 2.5.19 system, php 5.4.24, and GD being installed.
Instead of the captcha image, a broken image link is displayed.

When debugging in Chrome (in Chrome debug window only) I can see the following 500 error:

Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500 (Internal Server Error)
www.mywebsite.de/testsite/components/com.../securimage_show.php

I have also installed sh404SEF but explicitly excluded BF, knowing that sh404sef sometimes causes errors.

What else could I possibly try in order to get the image displayed? Please let me know should any further details be required.

Could you share with us a live link of your form?

If possible, you can also try to get the php error log from your hosting company. It could give us more info about this 500 error.
