heinzeric created the topic: How to disable required field?

Hi,

in a created view of mine I found a field with a "*" behind the field name. I guess it means a required field. I don't know how the field got this feature and thats way don't know how to disable it. The requirement seems to be an email-adress, at least thats what I found as a hint in the backend when I tried to save the updated item. In frontend is no hint - the item simple don't get updated. It won't get updated because the required field is empty. How can I disable the requirment for this field so I can update the items?

Many thanks for a hint.

Hi,

If you are using CB View to display data from from DB Data Storage, navigate to ContentBuilder -> Views -> [Name_of_your_view]. On the View tab, find the email field you want to disable the validation for. Click on [ text ] link under Editable column of your email element. There, select the 2nd tab, Scripts. You should see the validation you have chosen for your element there.

Regards,
Julian

Hi Julian,

I found it. But how to unmark any option? There is no empty option to disable the function completely. For the first I've choosen "not empty", so I can just fill in a point.
But anyway many thanks.

Hi,

I didn't notice that. Yea, it's true that there is no empty validation. To completely remove the validation you could change the Type of that field, save your changes, save the entire view, and change it back to the type you were using before. The validation should be removed that way.

Julian

Sorry Julian,

but it seemed not to work that way. I've tried different Types and saved booth, Type and entire view. If I save back to type text the validation notempty keeped marked.
Maybe I could remove this validation directly in the database field?
Thanks heinzeric

Hi,

Try clicking on a currently selected validation while holding the "Ctrl" button. It should deselect it. Then click on save and test if the validation is removed.
