I have a form (created by breezy forms) that collects a few pieces of information submitted by users. Each quarter we have been exporting that info to work with. We would like to be able to have another text field, that we can add a few notes to each record. This field should not be seen in the original submission form.
Sounds like Content Builder should be able to handle this but I have no clue How to set this up. There seems to be very little documentation on CB.
How do I get started creating this?

Thank you

Hello,

You should make two views based on the same BF form. In one view (user one) you should set the two fields to "not editable" (see attachment). In the second one, with admin permissions, you should set all fields as editable, or just those two, it's up to you. For both views use the option "edit by type". For the first view you can use the Joomla menu item type: CB> Create.

If you run into any trouble let us know and we will assist you.

First off, thanks for the help. I'm guessing I was trying to think to hard.
I have been able to see info now in a CB view from the breezing form info. What I was hoping to accomplish was to have a field hidden on the breezing form, but editable on the CB view. Each attempt I make , when it is hidden on BF it is also hidden on the CB edit view.
The only thought I have come up with is maybe I have to use CB to control the form completely? Two view version, on for the customer to create record then another for the administrator to make his update notes to the hidden field.
I have attached a couple screen shots. The Awarded field is turned off in BF, so to hide it. But unable to edit in the cb edit view from.

Hello,

You can do this exactly as I described in my first post.

1. Create a BF form where all fields are turned on. Both admin and user fields.

2. Create one CB view where you set only these "user" fields as "editable".

3. Create one CB view where you set only "admin" fields as "editable".

4. To get submissions from the "user" group you shouldn't no longer use a BF form menu item or any kind of BF form embedding. You should now use a Menu item Type: ContentBuilder> Create and there select the wanted view. Create a Joomla menu item type CB>Create>List View tab>Select View>ViewCreatedInStep2

5. Create a Joomla menu item type CB>List View>List View tab>Select View>ViewCreatedInStep3

This way both user groups will have their own fields to edit but they will be stored into a single record.

Both views you've created in the steps 2 and 3 should have their permissions set up.
User View should have set up "New" permission and the Admin should have "List Access", "View", "Edit" and maybe "Delete"(depends on how you want it).

The admin view should have a "Content Template" too.

In addition to this you could set all of the fields as editable for the admin, but set the "user" fields as "read-only" there for the admin, so they can see the "user" input while editing/adding their.

Please try this out and let us know if you need any help with it.

Regards,
Lovre

Yes, Almost there. I have got the basic stuff working now. I believe I only have one last question.

You stated in previous email "In addition to this you could set all of the fields as editable for the admin, but set the "user" fields as "read-only" there for the admin, so they can see the "user" input while editing/adding their."

I don't see a read only field to set. I would be great to see the info while the admin is editing the record.

Thanks for the help.

Hello there,

this will need a bit of code. You will need to create a "form entry" initscript for the each element you wish to make read-only when editing through CB. A script would go like this:
function ff_elementName_init(element, condition)
{
    switch (condition) {
        case 'formentry':
var href =window.location.href;
if (href.includes("http://joomla/index.php/form-view/edit/"))
element.readOnly = true;
            break;
        default:;
    } // switch
} // ff_l_init

Check the url of a page when you edit a record as an administrator and copy the part that repeats on every record edit to the code above... The url should be something similar to the one I've wrote in the code.

Please test this and let us know how it works for you.
