I am trying to use CBImageScaler to display large jpg. In content template {CBImageScale field: jpg; width: 1191; open: true}

Any file size >7MB will not display. Anything less works OK.

I have looked for the instructions for the CBImageScaler plugin but can't find them.

Is there a setting in Joomla I can adjusts to display jpg files up to 16MB?

Using php7.3, Joomla 3.9.19

Very grateful for any pointers.

Hi,

Login into your Joomla site. Go to Content->Media->Options

On this screen, you'll be able to see the file extensions you can currently upload, and here you can change max size.
For example I change it to 20MB.

Let me know if it helps.

Regards,
Tihana

Thanks for your fast response. The Jpg files are already uploaded but the issue is with displaying them using the CBImageScaler plugin. The method works as it displays smaller files as expected but it won’t display anything larger than 7 MB.

Hi,

the image scaler calculates the new dimensions using the GD library and it costs memory and cpu power.

So if you have many large images to be displayed and they need to be scaled on the fly, you will need to address that with php's "memory_limit" and raise it accordingly.

Please check your hosting's company FAQ on how to raise the memory_limit option in your PHP.ini and try to max out what your hosting allows per script.

Regards,
Markus

Thanks. The page contains some text and a single image from a jpg file rendered by CBImageScaler. The image size ranges is up to 20MB maximum. A page which calls an image >7MB doesn't display the image.

I have checked the memory limit and set it to 1024M. I thought his should be enough to display a 20MB jpg. Since doing that the content template page doesn't display anything (blank page) when the image size is >7MB.

Do you have any other suggestions I could try.

hm, sounds fine.
I can have a look, too if you want.
Need temporary admin and ftp access for debugging.

I am still pretty sure it is memory but who knows.
