I have a form where I need to display a total in a Summarize field based on whether or not check boxes are checked. The values for the checked boxes are simple numeric values and I want the total to simply be added up and displayed.

From what I can tell, this is done in 'Calculate Fields' on the Advanced tab of a Summarize element.

Unfortunately, there is no documentation on how 'Calculate Fields' is supposed to work.

I look forward to the day that all of the functionality of this extension has a little bit of documentation to go along with it. Perhaps some simple syntax samples would be nice.

I have tried the following and it does not do anything:
value = (value + bfField("FeeEndTot") + bfField("feetaxstd") + bfField("seesdstd")+ bfField("feerecstd")
);

Anyone have any ideas how 'Calculate Fields' is supposed to work?

Check this forum post -- it provides step-by-step instructions:

Hope this helps!

Hello,

First, thanks you for BF,
Indeed BF is a great component and it help me so much.

However, like erichhaubrich said, it would be better with any documentation about scripting.

I have exactly the same question as erichhaubrich and your link to a step-by-step instructions don't help me because I have checkbox groups and not simple checkboxes.

EDIT : After test it's works but I MUST select my first checkbox and if I "uncheck" a box, it'll increase the amountowing number and this is a big problem for me.

I want to display a total in a Summarize field based on whether or not check boxes are checked. For example "Your answer : 4", calculated by 1+1+1+1.

I think maybe i CAN'T do that with BF but without documentation about BF scripting it's hard to know what is possible or not.

All answers will be appreciated ;)

Hi,

Finally, I have done that with a PHP page but I don't say thank you to BF team because nobody helped me and worse than that, nobody answered me.

I was wondering me if i'll buy BF but with a poor community and a mute team, i won't.

However, BF is still a very good component... when it's free.

Cheers.
