gkonrad created the topic: Transfer field data from one form to another

I'm trying to transfer information from a textfield in one form to a textfield in a second form. I found an older forum question addressing this but it doesn't seem to work for me. In the first form End Submit section I am typing this:

$this->execPieceByName('ff_InitLib');
//Change ElementName to the name of the element which value you want to send to form2
$val = ff_getSubmit('firstname1');
header("Location: test.com/index.php?option=com_breezingfo...component?foo=".$val );

In the receiving form Before Form section I am typing this:

$this->execPieceByName('ff_InitLib');
$val = JRequest::getVar('foo');
//Change ElementName to the name of the element which should get the Parameter value
ff_setValue('firstname2', $val);

(The form location isn't accurate but everything else is the same.) When I submit the first form, the second ReceivingForm comes up nicely but the value is empty. Are there other settings that I am missing, or new rules for newer versions of BreezingForms? Thanks for the help.

Hello,

When you get redirected to the second form, is the value form the first form displayed in the URL properly after the "foo="?

There are no new rules for the newer BreezingForms version. This should work.

Please check whether you have "Logging" checkbox checked in the Advanced properties of the "firstname1" element. This has to be checked.

Get back to me with the result.

Regards,

To clarify, the element name in the sending form is firstname1 and the element in the receiving form is firstname2. Should firstname1 be included in the sending form's Location line after "?foo="? What I have now is:
header("Location: test.com/index.php?option=com_breezingfo...component?foo=".$val );
Logging is indeed checked for the firstname1 element.
Thanks for the help.

Hello again,

Yes, I understand that the name of the field in the first form is firstname1 and in the second one firstname2.

You seem to have set everything right, and the part of the URL should be:
foo=".$val
as you have put.

The $val variable should hold the field's value.

Can you please check when you get redirected to the second form, is the value that was entered in "firstname1" displayed in the URL properly after the "foo="?.

Regards,

Mihaela
