I have created a contact form which uses a select from list to get the recipient the list options are
0;Please choose the Department you wish to contact;
0;General enquiries;enquiries@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Publications sales;publications@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Members research enquiries;reasearch@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Submissions for the Society Journal;journal@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Queries for inclusion in the Society Journal;journal@anesfhs.org.uk
0;To send in your Ancestor Chart;charts@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Our Edinburgh branch;edinburgh@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Our Glasgow branch;glasgow@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Our Moray/Banff branch;moray.banff@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Our Midlands branch;midlands@anesfhs.org.uk
0;New or amended link for website;links@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Website problems/comments;webmaster@anesfhs.org.uk

and the mail recipents are
{MultipleMails: mail1 > enquiries@scothist.org.uk, mail2 > publications@scothist.org.uk, mail3 > reasearch@scothist.org.uk , mail4 > journal@scothist.org.uk, mail5 > journal@scothist.org.uk, mail6 > charts@scothist.org.uk, mail7 > edinburgh@scothist.org.uk, mail8 > glasgow@scothist.org.uk, mail9 > moray.banff@scothist.org.uk, mail10 > midlands@scothist.org.uk, mail11 > links@scothist.org.uk, mail12 > webmaster@scothist.org.uk}

Taken from the an forum posting.

When I hit submit everything seems ok no Error messages however the browser then goes to another page on the site which I have not chosen (actally i have no answer page)
But the chosen recipient does no get an email

Email does not work at all

Hi,

You can use one of the two following solutions.

1.) Create an select from list element, name it "mail" and define it like you did:
0;Please choose the Department you wish to contact;
0;General enquiries;enquiries@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Publications sales;publications@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Members research enquiries;reasearch@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Submissions for the Society Journal;journal@anesfhs.org.uk
0;Queries for inclusion in the Society Journal;journal@anesfhs.org.uk
0;To send in your Ancestor Chart;charts@anesfhs.org.uk
....
And then all you need to do is add a tag {mail} to the mail recipient(s). Don't forget to check the "mail notification" option.

2.) The second one is primarily used if you want to send mails to multiple addresses. Like in this examlpe:
crosstec.org/en/forums/40-club-forums-su...mail-recipients.html

We advise you to use the first solution because it is much easier and shorter.

Please let us know if this helps.

Ok I did as you said but it seems that email is not being sent anywhere by the form. I tried putting in a single email address into notification without getting an email. The user also didn't get a copy of the email (but I don't think I've done anything to tell the form to send it to the user)
I also have a new problem that I have a hidden item that should appear if charts@ is chosen, it worked with the old setup but I changed the visibily rules to
turn on element gsChartUpload if mail is charts@anesfhs.org.uk but it didn't work
gsUpload is a file upload element but again I'm not seeing the form doing anything to upload the file.

Hi,

Your Mail Settings in the Joomla> Global Configuration> Server Tab were set up as SMTP mail sender and when testing the mail settings there was a SMTP error. You can try to set it up again, but for now we have set the mailer to PHP mail (see attachment) and managed to get the email.

As for the upload element there were two bugs. You had the wrong mail in the visibility rule and you were missing the other "off" visibility rule, which is needed for it to function. Also keep in mind you should always put the "off" rules first like shown in the attachment 2. After these two adjustments we got the visibility rules working.

Please test your form now and let us know if this is working for you.
