Hello, all. I work for a mid-sized public school system, we're looking for a replacement for some outdated software we use to lock down and monitor student lab computers. We're phasing out Centurion's SmartShield software, which was able to do all of the following for us:
-- "Restore on reboot" functionality to minimize the impact of malicious student activity -- The ability to monitor lab computers remotely, including viewing computer screens -- The ability to manage client computers (locking down USB ports, pushing software, etc.)
I'd like to find something with a minimum of the previous software's capability, and more if possible. We're not going to try GPO wizardry or software your college roommate wrote during his undergrad, we're looking for a full-fledged solution if anything is available. I've found a few candidates, including CrossTec SchoolVue/Secure, and Faronics Deep Freeze/Insight. I'll be demoing those this month. Unfortunately, everything I've found thus far looks like multiple licenses per PC, opposed to a single one for SmartShield.
Does anyone have any experience with Faronics and CrossTec? Any suggestions for other software?
Thank you!
