geeksscript created the topic: Hit URL after submit

Hello,

After submitting the form, I need to execute SMS api (HTTP). As of now, I am redirecting to an external HTTP page. It seems problematic to press back button after each redirect.

Is there a way by which I can hit the HTTP URL in background after each submit & the form is shown again?

Please let me know.

Thanks, Mario but I was wondering if there is a way without opening a new window(?)

Hey,

this can be done in more ways than one.

For example, if the API is not CORS protected, you could put the API call inside the End Submit script (echo out the script or use JFactory::getDocument->addScriptDeclaration()). or inside the Submitted Script as in the screenshot above. The submitted script is JS so you can use either jQuery.ajax or use a new XMLHttpRequest.

Additionaly, if you are the creator of that external page that's sending data to the SMS API, you can set an additional redirect on success, to be redirected back to the form and the thank you page.

Regards,
Mario

Hi Mario,

I tried doing as below:
switch (status) {
        case FF_STATUS_OK:
           var win = window.open('https://something.com/API/sms-api.php?$mobile_number','_blank','location=yes,height=570,width=520,scrollbars=yes,status=yes');
           setTimeout(function () { win.close();}, 3000);
           document.reload();
           break;

This opens up the URL in new window & auto closes it in 3 seconds. That is fine.

But in URL I have a variable $mobile_number, how can I replace the variable with it's value in Submitted Script?

In End Submit, I had:
$this->execPieceByName('ff_InitLib');
$mobile_number = ff_getSubmit('mobile');

Please guide.
